HONEY: A SWEET GIFT FROM GOD FOR BODY AND SOUL
“How sweet are Your words to my taste. Sweeter than honey to my mouth!”
— Psalms 119:103
“But I have said to you, ‘You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey.’”
— Leviticus 20:24
Honey (dvash in Hebrew) is another gift from God’s bountiful delicacies.
It was not created solely for our pleasure, but also as a vital superfood to help maintain our bodies as the fine-tuned machine they were created to be. A healing, immune boosting taste of God’s goodness.
Just as one wheat berry, or grain of wheat, contains 40 of the 44 essential nutrients and minerals required for sustenance, honey contains antioxidants that can help support heart health. With a lower glycemic index than refined sugar, it will not create a glucose crash. But rather, as research suggests, it may help support blood sugar regulation.
Honey can be used to suppress a cough, improve blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and even be applied to wounds for healing. Darker honey has more antioxidants.
Biblically, it represents agricultural bounty, divine provision, and spiritual sweetness. The phrase “a land flowing with milk and honey” symbolizes ultimate prosperity and fertility in Canaan, the promised land.
How awesome is our God!
Through His great love, He created us in His image. And provided all we need to live in wellness and abundance. From delicacies to nourishing every detail. Wholeness. Perfection.
As we journey towards whole wellness we can look to our Creator who provides every need.
