Power in the Name
There is a lot of talk about spiritual battles, unseen forces working against us, and the power of darkness. Too much credit and attention being given to the enemy. He likes that.
Instead, I find comfort in speaking the Word, praising, and calling on the Name of Jesus, recognizing who I am in Him, and the Authority that I have been given in His Name. The Name above ALL other names. The Name which makes demons flee and hell shake.
For this reason, know that demonic forces are not fighting to get to us who belong to Christ because they would have to go through Him first. We are covered by the Blood of Jesus and His finished work on the cross, and He lives in us.
There is a Blood barrier line, a border that covers us, that the enemy cannot cross.
Let us look at David and Goliath.
In the battles of that day, they exercised what is referred to as champion warfare, which means instead of two armies slaughtering each other, both armies had one representative fight. Whoever became champion, their nation won. The one who fell, his nation fell into bondage.
As we read in 1 Samuel 17:40-51, they understood the blood line, as Goliath called out to David to come to him and be killed. But David, small, good looking and without physical armor, ran to Goliath in the Name of the Lord Almighty, with just a sling and a stone.
Power in the Name, covered by the Blood.
Yes, this was before Jesus, but Jesus is the Beginning and the End, the same yesterday, today and forever. When we trust Him, praise Him, and worship Him, we create a space where the enemy cannot enter. He cannot cross that line. This assurance brings me peace and power to overcome. Is it always easy? No, but I know the truth and the result.
His love and sacrifice shield us, and in that truth, we can rest and rejoice.
