God Honors Our Faith

Recently, I was asked whether I had enough faith to move a mountain. My response was that I absolutely do. Then I was asked if I had ever actually moved one.

A mountain is a mountain, whether a physical pile of rock before you or a difficult situation, troubling diagnosis or circumstance that leaves you feeling stuck and unable to see a way  forward.

God’s Word says that if we have faith the size of a mustard seed, we can say to a mountain “Move from here to there,” and it will move (Matthew 17:20). Where can we get that kind of faith? Faith comes from hearing and hearing from the Word of God (Romans 10:17).

God’s Word is His will. As we read His written Word - the Logos Word - we hear His truth. But sometimes, while reading Scripture, a particular verse seems to leap from the page and fill your heart with joy and certainty.  That is the Rhema Word – God speaking directly to your spirit.

Jesus lives in our hearts through faith. Scripture tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). God honors faith, and His promises never fail. In Christ, they are always Yes and Amen‍ ‍(2 Corinthians 1:20).

I have known and loved Jesus for as long as I can remember.

At twelve years old, I accepted Him as my Savior and committed myself to reading His Word completely. There is a difference between simply reading the Word and living it.  Even the enemy knows Scripture, but the eyes of  my understanding had not yet been fully opened.

Many years ago, I found myself six years into a tumultuous and abusive marriage. I was expecting my second child, my precious daughter, and life was very difficult.

One day, while I was reading Scripture and praying, the Lord spoke to me through Isaiah 54.  Every word in that chapter felt personal, as though God Himself was speaking directly to my heart. Overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit engraving His promises on my heart, I began to praise and thank Him.

For He is the God Who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did (Romans 4:17). I held tightly to His promise that day.
I lived it.
I breathed it.

I praised Him and thanked Him for it for twenty years.  And it came to fruition. And it is still unfolding, along with many other promises God has fulfilled over the past forty-four years.

What mountain are you facing?

Pray and thank God for His promises. Take your little mustard seed, wrap it in the mighty name of Jesus, and crush that mountain!
