Mama Bears and Chicks
As mothers, our children are gifts entrusted to us by God. We are chosen to love, nurture, and guide them into the men and women He created them to be—warriors for Christ who live for His glory and purpose. Motherhood is more than a blessing; it is a calling, an honor, a privilege, and a sacred responsibility(Psalm 127:3).
Like many mothers, I have learned that motherhood is a journey filled with both joy and challenge, and often, a great deal of trial and error.
I became a mother at a young age when my oldest son was born. In many ways, we grew up together. Over the years, I watched him mature into a godly man who loves the Lord. Today, he is a successful businessman, a devoted father, and now a grandfather, experiencing the abundant blessings of a life rooted in Christ.
My second child, my daughter, has always remained close to me through every season of life. Once my little shadow, she has grown into an accomplished woman of faith, a trusted confidant, and my dearest friend. She values the wisdom I have gained as a wife, mother, and daughter of Christ, while continually inspiring me through her own walk with the Lord. She is, my “mini-me.”
My youngest son was born when I was 42 years old. While I grew up with my oldest, I grew older with him. He has brought endless joy, laughter, and fresh perspective into our lives. Though he is 18 years younger than his sister and at a different stage of adulthood, I hold the same promises over his life that I have spoken over his siblings. I believe he will soar on wings like eagles(Isaiah 40:31),be blessed in all he does(Deuteronomy 28:13-14), and be mighty in the land(Psalm 112:2).
Now that my children are adults, I no longer have control over every challenge they face.
When they struggle, I turn to the One who created them. Rather than focusing on the problems, I choose to stand on God's promises. His Word never returns void; it always accomplishes His purpose. And I will go out with joy and be led with peace; the mountains and the hills will break forth into singing before me. And the trees will clap their hands (Isaiah 55:11-12). What a promise.
All I know is the promises are mine; the timing is the Lord’s.
As a praying mother who trusts God's Word, my heart overflows with joy. Unexplainable joy--- not because life is always easy, but because I know He holds my children securely in His hands. Their stories belong to Him, and their journeys are unfolding according to His perfect plan. What beautiful testimonies He is writing through their lives.
“Lift up your eyes and look about you: All assemble and come to you; your sons come from afar, and your daughters are carried on the hip. Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth on the seas will be brought to you…”
-Isaiah 60:4-5a.
I gave all my children and will continue with my grandchildren and great grandchildren, all that I have and cherish most to give.
That is my faith and love for Christ. And they are richer than the richest in this world. There are no numbers that can equate their worth in Christ.
Whether you are a Mama bird with young chicks or a Mama bear with older cubs, put your trust in the Lord, the One Who created them for you. He knows them and loves them more than we can imagine (Psalms 73:28, Hebrews 2:13).
